Overview Snipe Hunter, in many ways, is the spiritual successor of Tribe-Infecting Virus from the Goat Format era. With turn-player priority still on rules and a handful of good discard cards in this era, it's no wonder Snipe Hunter got Limited after his infamous performance in March 2007 format. While obviously aren't as board-breaking as Tribe-Infecting Virus, Snipe Hunter is more versatile since it can hit any cards rather than just face-up monsters. You can dispose of a strong boss monster, pesky walls or even suspicious backrow with a mere cost of 1 card in your hand and 1/3 chance of failing, which is still a good chance to get it works. Combos Another better aspect of Snipe Hunter is the pesky sniping Fiend is easily searchable. You can crash/set your Mystic Tomato to be destroyed in battle to immediately Special Summon it to field, or search it with Sangan's effect.
While dice rolls can obviously fail when it counts, Players can mitigate or even make the discard cost of Snipe Hunter advantageous with cards that are great to be discarded to the GY like Destiny Hero - Malicious, Destiny Hero - Disk Commander, Treeborn Frog, Non-Monarch tribute monsters, to be Special Summoned immediately with Premature Burial or Call of The Haunted or even (back then) OCG-exclusive Dandylion. And what's even better, Snipe Hunter effect can be activated as much as you like in one turn, as long as there are cards in hand to discard.
